Rise in demand of detectives on the eve of Karwa Chauth

Markets are flooded with women’s special discounts everywhere, the diamond and sari advertisements, and web articles wondering whether a newlywed actress will fast. From jewellery brands to FMCG products, a temporary paradigm shift occurs to suit what we watch on screen. We consume ideas that promote this ritual, often selling it as an ineradicable practice of marital bliss and romance.

Karva Chauth is a primarily north Indian festival in which women observe a fast for their prized husbands. It looks like a glossy affair accompanying the ultimate selfless, romantic gesture made by the spouse. Leaving a little space for discourse on how it propagates the very idea that women should inertly be dependent on men. What it also leaves with it is a huge void about how falsely it binds those marriages that are not even in tune.

On the evening of October 27, 2018, Vikram Chauhan, a senior executive at a corporate firm, reportedly, pushed his 32-year-old wife Deepika off the verandah of their eighth floor flat in the Ansal Valley View Society on the Gurgaon-Faridabad Road. Vikram was allegedly involved in an extra-marital affair with a married woman in the same society.

On this calendar day, Indian women fast the whole day, without an iota of water, until the moon is seen. But in today’s world, as the face of the moon dwindles away, so does the auspiciousness behind the ritual. Women are alarmingly becoming suspicious of their husbands when cheating overweighs the promise of a “fulfilling marriage.”

They suspect that their husbands might prioritize going to their mistresses on this occasion. It is feared that given the choice or opportune moment — they will run to a lover first instead of traipsing towards them during the ritual. As insecure as a woman can be, she very well knows that a festival is just for sanctimony but can be perfect for a love affair. When clandestine lovers heave sighs of relief in dimly-lit boudoirs, married couples are at pains to keep a check of the household chores. With more scope, the dual combination of leisure and technology allows instant communication, adultery has increased fourfold.

Making this event an emancipated excuse to check on one’s husband. While private investigators and professional detectives turn into vital instruments during this cultural time of the season. Unlike any other holiday, this festival that ironically represents unconditional faith has inversely become a symbol of distrust and misgivings.

Yet, it is enjoying popularity like never before. In its modern form, it is now a flashy, ostentatious affair that has lucratively refurbished itself from being a regressive display of moral pageantry to meet romantic principles in the eyes of others. So, when we think of Karva Chauth today, we imagine married people fasting together, women claiming that it’s their prerogative along with pricey gifts that tie the whole thing together neatly but empty it of its wholesomeness. But truly, behind closed doors, it is a cry for help that still burns a candle at both ends.

This is where detectives chip in with their skillset and help Indian women become powerful. Generally, private detectives and investigators seek real facts and interpret information about legal, monetary, and private matters. They offer a range of services, including verifying people’s backgrounds, investigating cybercrimes and conducting sting operations. At DDS Detectives, we provide a range of services but our primary focus centres on matrimonial checks and investigations.

Private detectives and investigators generally interview people to collect information, search records to uncover real-time evidence, conduct surveillance, formulate a plan of action and present accordingly in court. They also verify employment, income, and other facts about a suspect and investigate computer crimes.

DDS Detectives offers many services for all individuals, lawyers, and businesses. Our team is professionally trained to provide to suspecting married and committed people in relationships. Be it a pre-matrimonial check, post-matrimonial check or personal background check, we are hired for all kinds of services. We are also recurrently hired to prove or disprove infidelity in divorce cases. Detectives clear doubts where it is long due, sometimes confirming suspicions but mostly erasing them. DDS Detectives give this shapeless framework of truth a mould of hope to women as the rest remains the same in the calm quiet monotony of practiced rituals.

Vikram and Deepika had had a love-marriage in 2013. The very same Vikram pushed her off the balcony following a quarrel on Karwa Chauth festival. This is the day that exists to observe a fast for the happiness and long life of the husbands. Deepika, a senior official at a bank, as per ritual, observed a fast on Karva Chauth, but her questions to her cheating husband got her killed. “She (Vikram’s mistress) used to frequently visit their house, causing a dispute between them,” Deepika’s father claimed. He also said that when Deepika raised objection about Vikram’s affair, he beat her up. Vikram did a gruesome thing and paid for the same three days later in the court of law for allegedly murdering his wife.

Vikram and Deepika were parents to a four-year-old daughter and a six-month-old son.

While this commercial and romantic makeover add no value to the lives of women in a country that is still struggling to break free from the socio-religious liabilities that most of the women have to bear. A country which is still attached to the values of marital rape, female foeticide and increased infidelity, traditions such as the Karva Chauth tie its women to their conventional roles of being passive actors on stage in their own play.
